Criminal DefenceMichael Shapray is a criminal lawyer in British Columbia with experience defending criminal charges across the province. He has also worked as a special prosecutor and ad hoc Crown counsel, giving him insight into how the prosecution approaches a case, and was the first lawyer in British Columbia hired as special counsel to a judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, assisting with the Air India trial. His primary office is in Surrey, where he handles cases from Surrey, Langley, Delta, North Delta, White Rock, Abbotsford, Aldergrove, Chilliwack, and Maple Ridge, and he regularly travels across BC to represent clients, including in Prince George, Kamloops, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Victoria, and Nanaimo. He is frequently sought for legal analysis on criminal law issues by News 1130, CKNW 980, CTV News, and CBC. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 1992 and his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall in 1995, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1997 and in British Columbia in 2001.
