Michael Drouillard co-founded Drouillard Lawyers and provides an integrated approach to real estate clients as both litigator and solicitor, maintaining a substantial commercial leasing and transaction practice alongside a litigation practice focused on real estate disputes. Before founding the firm with Brett Love, Michael was co-chair of the real estate practice group at one of the largest law firms in Vancouver. He has written extensively on real estate, including the Canadian best-selling book Landlording in Canada, a peer-reviewed article criticizing dual agency once used by BC real estate brokerages, and a treatise on manufactured housing law co-authored with Brett Love. Michael teaches real estate law at the UBC Sauder School of Business and for the BC Financial Services Authority, and has been qualified as an expert witness by the BC Supreme Court on professional practice standards for real estate licensees. He previously worked as a real estate salesperson and property manager. Michael earned his JD from the University of Victoria in 2011 and a Bachelor of General Studies from Thompson Rivers University in 2009, along with a Diploma in Urban Land Economics (Property Management Specialization) and a Letter of Recognition in Advanced Studies in Real Estate from UBC Sauder School of Business, and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2012.
