Max Blitt, Q.C. has been a senior lawyer with Spier Harben since 1993, practicing family law, real estate, and wills and estates, with extensive experience in cases under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. He has helped recover children abducted to other Canadian provinces and to countries including Poland, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Italy, South Africa, Turkey, China, India, and the United Kingdom, among others. Max has given expert evidence on Alberta family law and jurisdictional issues and has served as a court-appointed dispute resolution officer with the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta since 2006. He has presented internationally on international child abduction and cross-cultural mediation, including to the International Bar Association in Dubai and at conferences in Australia, Japan, and South Africa. Max is a member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and the International Child Abduction Attorney Network, and has volunteered with organizations including the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter and Child Find Alberta. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Pre-Law) from the University of Calgary in 1973 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta in 1974, and was appointed Queen's Counsel of Alberta.
