About Mark

Mark G. Sorella is a legal advisor with experience in corporate and commercial law, information technology law and employment law, developed in particular as director of legal affairs at Groupe V Média and Transfilm. Sorella has extensive knowledge of the entertainment and media sector, CRTC regulatory matters, and copyright and intellectual property law. At Groupe V Média, Sorella was responsible for the organization's contracts, chaired its regulatory compliance committee, and led the negotiation and integration of the acquisition of the MusiquePlus and Musimax specialty channels. At Transfilm, a film and television production company, Sorella oversaw contracts covering finance, intellectual property, distribution, licensing and employment. Before moving in-house, Sorella practised as a lawyer at Blanshay Smiley, formerly Smiley & Associates. Sorella was called to the Quebec bar in 1993 and holds an LL.M. and Juris Doctor from Université de Montréal along with a B.A. in economics from McGill University.
