About Maira

Maira Hassan has practised law since being called to the Bar in Ontario in 2001 and in Alberta in 2005. She graduated from the University of Ottawa's LL.B. program in 1999, after completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto with a specialized multidisciplinary major in Ethics, Society and the Law. She has worked with private law firms, provincial government agencies in Ontario, and Alberta Justice's Civil Litigation department, focusing on family law, child welfare, and civil litigation. She volunteered with Lawyers Without Borders and has taught ESL evening classes to newcomers in the Calgary area.
