Louis J. Godry

About Louis

Louis Godry was called to the bar in 2011 and practises primarily in family and domestic law, including divorce, custody, maintenance, family property, adoption, guardianship, and interjurisdictional support matters. He has extensive experience in high-conflict domestic proceedings, including emergent hearings and parental alienation cases, as well as child protection matters involving guardianship and grandparent access. Before law, Louis worked as a teacher and postsecondary instructor, including ten years at Cross Lake, Manitoba (Pimicikamak Cree Nation), and as an adjunct professor at University College of the North and Brandon University. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. from the University of Guelph, a B.Ed. from the University of New Brunswick, and an LL.B. from the University of Manitoba (2004), and was inducted into the University of Guelph Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016 for his collegiate football career, which also included a season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
