Indigenous LawLeah Anaka earned her law degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 1998, where she volunteered with Student Legal Services and was involved with the law school's student newspaper. She later worked in software development and design before returning to the legal profession in 2009. She articled at Chivers Carpenter in Edmonton and was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2010, then joined Field LLP as an associate, practising human rights, employment, and labour law and representing Indigenous clients in residential school claims. She joined Simon Renouf Professional Corporation in January 2014. Since 2012, she has served on the board of the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society, which serves Edmonton's urban Indigenous community.
