About Laura

Laura McDougald-Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from Brandon University before completing a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Common Law at McGill University in Montreal. She finished her articles with Meighen Haddad LLP in 2005, worked as an associate until 2014, and was promoted to partner in 2015. She practises full-time from the firm's Souris branch office, with a solicitor's practice covering real estate transactions, wills and estates planning, agribusiness, and corporate and commercial work, concentrated on farm and small business clients. She received the YWCA Westman 2024 Women of Distinction Award for Agriculture and has served on the Brandon University Board of Directors and several regional health and cultural boards. She and her husband operate a grain and oilseed farm near Souris.
