About Laura

Laura Ibsen is an associate who joined Thomas Gold Pettingill in 2026 after practising civil and family law litigation at a boutique firm in Kelowna, British Columbia. There she appeared as counsel on small claims and residential tenancy matters and assisted senior counsel with business torts and human rights litigation. Laura's practice areas include insurance litigation, Licence Appeal Tribunal disputes, accident benefits and SABS claims, priority and loss transfer disputes, motor vehicle claims, and occupiers' liability. She earned her J.D. from Thompson Rivers University in 2024, winning a course prize for her constitutional analysis on freedom of expression and animal advocacy, and holds a B.A. from Concordia University (2019) with a focus on Spanish, inspired by time spent living in Medellin, Colombia. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2025, with her call to the Ontario Bar anticipated in 2026.
