About Lance
Lance Carey Talbot is the founding and principal lawyer of Talbot Law in Sudbury, practising primarily in family law with an additional focus on criminal law matters that arise in the family context, such as domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault. He has a particular interest in child protection proceedings and devotes a significant part of his practice to Children's Aid Society cases. He earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Toronto in 1988, a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1992, and a Master's degree in History from the University of Toronto in 1993. He was called to the Ontario Bar in February 1994 and later qualified as an English solicitor, being admitted to the Roll of the Law Society of England and Wales in 2002. Before returning to Canada in 2003 to practise criminal and family law as a sole practitioner, he worked as a research lawyer at the Law Society of Upper Canada, as a policy analyst on Parliament Hill, and in a UK law firm's corporate insurance department. He is a member of the Family Lawyers' Association, the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
