About Khatidja

Khatidja Moloo-Alam has practised immigration, refugee, and litigation law for more than 15 years. Before joining Jain Immigration Law, she was Litigation Counsel with the Department of Justice Canada and worked at a boutique immigration firm in Toronto. While at the Department of Justice, she argued Vavilov v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2015 FC 960, at the Federal Court, and her cases include Lawrence v. Canada (Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness), 2023 FC 1637, in which the Court accepted that humanitarian and compassionate factors should be considered in a section 44 decision. She has more than 100 reported decisions on CanLII arising from litigation before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court. She holds a B.A. (Hons), LL.B, and LLM, and serves as an adjunct instructor in Queen's University's Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law program.
