Kenneth K. Ma advises on growing patent portfolios for start-ups, universities, government organizations and multinational corporations in life sciences, biotechnology, agribiotech, chemicals and medical devices, and in select mechanical and consumer products sectors. He drafts and prosecutes patent applications and advises clients through prosecution in Canada, the United States and Europe, and prepares patentability, infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate opinions. He has represented clients before the Patent Appeal Board and advises on the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations and Certificates of Supplementary Protection. Before becoming a lawyer and registered patent agent, Ma worked as a patent manager for a nutraceutical corporation and earned a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
