About Karen
Karen Drake is Counsel at JFK Law's Toronto office and an Associate Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she teaches Indigenous Peoples and Canadian Law, Indigenous Legal Traditions, and Property Law. A member of the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, her work focuses on helping Indigenous nations exercise their inherent rights through their own legal orders and on advancing Indigenous self-determination through Aboriginal and Treaty rights. She previously served as a Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and on the boards of the Indigenous Bar Association and the Human Rights Legal Support Centre. Karen holds an LL.M. and J.D. from the University of Toronto, an M.A. in Philosophy from Queen's University, and a B.A. Honours in Philosophy from Lakehead University.
