About Karen

Karen Balas (Aujla) is a partner in Hamilton Duncan's Estate Planning, Wills & Trusts group, guiding individuals and families through estate planning, estate administration, and real estate transactions. She crafts estate plans involving wills, codicils, testamentary trusts, and deeds of gift, and develops incapacity plans including powers of attorney and representation agreements. Her practice also covers guiding executors, administrators, and trustees through grants of probate, resealing foreign grants, and estate distributions. She obtained her law degree from Thompson Rivers University, earning multiple course prizes, after employment with a national law enforcement agency sparked her interest in law, and built her estate planning practice at a boutique Surrey firm before joining Hamilton Duncan.
