About Joseph
Joseph moved to Weir Bowen in 1991 to work with firm co-founder John Weir, QC, and has built a practice focused on medical malpractice, particularly birth injury cases involving brain injuries from oxygen deprivation, hypoglycemia, infection, or premature birth. He co-founded the Birth Injury Lawyers Alliance, Canada's largest network of birth trauma lawyers, in 2016. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2010, has been listed in Best Lawyers in Canada every year since 2006, and was named Edmonton's Personal Injury Litigator of the Year in 2010 and 2019. He is also listed in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Martindale-Hubbell, and in 2011 was inducted into the Litigation Counsel of America, becoming a Senior Fellow in 2018. He has received the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association's Gary J. Bigg Champion of Justice Award and its President's Award, and belongs to the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Edmonton Bar Association, and the Birth Injury Lawyers Alliance.
