About Joseph

Joseph Adler is a partner at KMB Law and a member of its Franchising, Retail & Distribution, Corporate/Commercial, and Intellectual Property groups. As a registered trademark agent, he advises clients on their Canadian operations and transactions, with particular emphasis on franchising and distribution, intellectual property law and cross-border trade. Joseph acts as legal counsel for Canadian, American and other foreign franchisors doing business in Canada, as well as for Canadian franchisors expanding into the U.S., Europe and elsewhere, and he has also represented multi-unit franchisees and franchisee associations. Joseph frequently writes and is quoted on franchising topics, and has spoken at conferences hosted by groups including the CFA, the OBA, the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising and the IFA. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1990, holds an M.A. from the University of Toronto, an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario, and a B.A. from York University, and is a Certified Franchise Executive through the International Franchise Association.
