About John-Paul
John-Paul Boyd is counsel at the firm and an accredited family law arbitrator, family law mediator, and parenting coordinator, and a member of the bars of Alberta and British Columbia (called to the British Columbia bar in 2000 and the Alberta bar in 2014). He practiced family law in Vancouver for 14 years before becoming executive director of the Canadian Research Institute for Law and the Family, affiliated with the University of Calgary, starting in 2013. He completed mediator training in 2005, parenting coordinator certification in 2007, arbitrator accreditation in 2011, and collaborative practice training in 2012, and established John-Paul Boyd Arbitration Chambers in 2018. He created the public legal education resource JP Boyd on Family Law and writes and teaches on family law topics.
