About John

John D. Toogood has practised as a solicitor since earning his law degree from the University of Alberta in 1993. He previously worked in senior hospital management in Halifax after completing a Master's in Public Administration at Dalhousie University, then started his career at Field & Field Perraton, now Field Law, before founding his own firm on Edmonton's south side in 1998. That firm operated under several names, including Richards Wood Toogood and McGee Richard Toogood LLP, before Toogood joined Roger Stephens and Kevin Mah in 2022 to form Stephens Mah Toogood. His practice focuses on real estate transactions, estate planning and administration, and corporate and commercial transactions and leasing, and in recent years has centred on Will preparation, advising executors, and the charity and not-for-profit sector, where he works closely with W. Laird Hunter.
