About Jo-Anne

Jo-Anne Durand began her career at the same firm as Jean-Pierre Riel, practising commercial litigation and real estate law for her first five years, and gained early commercial leasing experience in the legal department of TrizecHahn. Since 1999 she has focused on transactional real estate, with particular expertise in commercial leasing, sale and acquisition, and mixed-use development, acting for landlords, tenants, developers and property owners in office, retail, industrial, mixed-use and lifestyle-centre projects. Before joining Riel & Associés she was a partner at two large Montreal law firms, working on large-scale commercial developments including Carrefour de la Rive Sud and Faubourg Boisbriand, and represented Walmart Canada for more than ten years on acquisition, development and leasing matters in Quebec. At Riel & Associés she has worked on major developments such as Quartier Dix30, Griffintown and other mixed-use projects, negotiating with national and international tenants including Canadian Tire, Jean Coutu, Metro, National Bank, TD Bank, Costco, Home Depot, Starbucks and Zara.
