Associate at Birenbaum, Steinberg, Landau, Savin & Colraine, LLP
Jim Tan joined BSLSC in 2024 and practises family law exclusively, having previously worked on complex, high-net-worth, and high-conflict family law files at firms in Toronto, Peel, and Halton. His practice covers domestic contracts, income disputes, parenting issues, collaborative family law, child support, alternative dispute resolution, and complex property division, and he provides legal research support to the firm's family law team. Tan earned his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, part of York University, in 2017 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2018; during law school he coordinated the Family Law Project for Pro Bono Students Canada, and the Law Foundation of Ontario later recognized his work furthering access to justice in family law. He is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Advocates' Society, volunteers with the Women's Centre of Halton, and serves clients in English and Mandarin.
