Jeffrey (JP) McAvoy practices corporate and commercial law with a focus on founder-led businesses, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, financing, and corporate structuring, including companies building in AI and on the blockchain. He represents a range of corporations across Canada, the United States, and Eastern Asia, and teaches Corporate Law as a college professor. Before entering private practice he was a founding employee of the Silicon Valley start-up Zip2, which was later sold to Compaq and merged with Alta Vista. He works with financial, insurance, and accounting advisers to provide tax, trust, and estate planning advice to entrepreneurial clients and professionals. Over five years he has led more than forty five corporate and commercial transactions worth over $80 million, including the $12.3 million purchase of a medical centre and the multi-million dollar sale of a paving and concrete company. He is Managing Partner at ConductLaw and has received recognition including an OBJ Forty Under Forty Award.
