About ConductLaw

ConductLaw is a business law firm based in Ottawa's Barrhaven area, at 500 Claridge Drive. The firm dates itself to 2001, the same year Managing Partner JP McAvoy was called to the Ontario bar after earning an LL.B from Queen's University in 1999. Before practicing law, McAvoy was a founding employee of Zip2, a Silicon Valley startup that Compaq bought and later merged with AltaVista. That background shows up in the firm's focus today: corporate and commercial law for founder-led businesses, along with commercial real estate, trademarks, and trusts and estate planning.

The team is small by design. Christina Lachance, called to the Ontario bar in 2015 after a J.D. from the University of Ottawa, handles corporate work alongside wills and estates. Donna Neff, a Certified Specialist in Estates and Trusts Law and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, practiced estates and trusts law at the firm for more than 20 years before recently retiring. Tee Persad, one of the firm's attorneys, spent years as a law clerk across civil, criminal, bankruptcy, and family courts before moving into arbitration and mediation work. ConductLaw also advises realtors, physicians, and dentists on setting up personal real estate corporations, a niche that has grown alongside Ontario's PREC rules.
