About Jeff

Jeff Bright is a Calgary based business lawyer and the founder of Bright Counsel, a virtual law practice, called to the Alberta bar in 2003. He previously worked as a partner in national law firms and as corporate counsel for a Calgary based multinational, where he handled major acquisitions and anti-corruption compliance. His practice focuses on business law for private and smaller public companies, particularly in the energy and technology industries, along with owner operated businesses in other sectors. He advises clients on start-up and ongoing corporate structure and governance, financing, intellectual property protection, and mergers and acquisitions, and has experience with a wide range of commercial agreements including partnership, consulting, shareholder, and licensing agreements. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Distinction) from the Alberta University of the Arts (formerly ACAD), and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan. Before practicing law he worked as a commercial photographer.
