About Janice
Janice E. Blackburn is a retired partner who spent her career acting as counsel to hospitals and health professionals. She appeared before administrative tribunals in the health field, including Coroner's Inquests, the Consent and Capacity Board and the Ontario Review Board, and argued cases at every level of appellate court up to the Supreme Court of Canada. Earlier in her career she served as Assistant Director of the Ministry of Health branch overseeing the province's ten psychiatric hospitals. She lectured frequently, teaching forensic psychiatry trainees at McMaster University and the University of Toronto Medical School, training Crown counsel for Ontario Review Board hearings, and speaking at Queen's University and Osgoode Hall Law School. She was called to the Ontario bar in 1984.
