About James

James Thomson, known as Jamie, is a partner whose practice centers on advising and defending professionals such as accountants, architects, engineers, lawyers, and physicians, along with hospitals, oil companies, ship owners, and freight forwarders. He has represented these clients before provincial and federal courts at first instance and on appeal, in arbitrations, and before various boards and tribunals. He also advises insurers on coverage and policy interpretation and has handled commercial transactions for oil companies, ship owners, and insurers. Jamie was admitted to the Quebec bar in 1978 and the Ontario bar in 1984. He graduated from Queen's University in 1974 and from the law school at Université de Montréal in 1977, and he is fluent in French.
