Employment & Labour LawJanet Gartner has a broad general litigation practice representing accountants in negligence claims and disciplinary matters, and litigating complex commercial, shareholder, and estate and trust disputes. She was co-counsel for Western Canadian counsel in the Commission of Inquiry into the Air India Flight 182 bombing, and has represented plaintiffs in motor vehicle accident and traumatic brain injury cases, as well as employers and employees in wrongful dismissal claims. Janet graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School, ranking among the top ten students in her final year, and has board experience including as a Director of the Immigrant Services Society of Greater Vancouver. She earned a BA in English with a minor in Philosophy (1998) and a BA in Women's Studies (2000), both from the University of Calgary, and her LLB from UBC in 2004, before being called to the British Columbia bar in 2005.
