About Janet

Janet Bobechko is a Certified Specialist in Environmental Law at WeirFoulds LLP, with a practice concentrated on climate change and sustainability, ESG, brownfield development, and environmental dispute resolution. She advises on environmental compliance for mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, leasing, financings and environmental management systems, and handles construction and lien matters involving contamination and remediation. Her litigation work spans legacy contamination claims, regulatory inspections, and defence of charges and orders. She also advises on approvals, chemical management, transportation of dangerous goods, spill response and source water protection, and counsels boards on ESG reporting and risk mitigation. Called to the Ontario bar in 1991, she holds a law degree from the University of Windsor, a J.D. from the University of Detroit's Mercy Law School, and an advanced alternative dispute resolution certificate from Windsor. She sits on Toronto Metropolitan University's Corporate Social Responsibility Institute advisory committee and co-chairs the ONEIA Climate Change Committee.
