About James

James leads Samfiru Tumarkin LLP's national Disability & Personal Injury Law group, representing clients throughout Canada apart from Quebec. His work covers complex personal injury and disability claims, and he has appeared at multiple levels of court, with several cases drawing media coverage. Notable results include reinstating Sandra Bullock's long-term disability benefits after Sun Life terminated them, and securing more than $100,000 for a Barrie teacher whose disability claim was contested following a violent workplace incident. He co-hosts the Disability Law Show on television and radio and teaches at Osgoode Hall's Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop. James earned his law degree from Queen's University after completing a business degree at the Richard Ivey School of Business.
