James practises primarily in civil litigation, helping clients resolve disputes in fields including defamation, personal injury, and litigation involving estates, construction, residential conveyancing, and debtor-creditor matters. He aims to resolve matters through negotiation but regularly attends court, having conducted trials before the Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and appeared before various administrative tribunals and as junior counsel in a major public inquiry. James was called to the Manitoba Bar in 2011 and has served on the board of Trails Manitoba and the Association des juristes d'expression francaise du Manitoba.
