About Jacqueline

Jacqueline Horton was born and raised in the north of England and had a career in nursing and midwifery before earning an LL.B. with honours from the University of London in 1996. After moving to Victoria, BC, she completed her Canadian legal qualifications with an LL.B. from the University of Victoria, articled, and practised as an associate at one of Victoria's firms before founding The Genesis Law Group, which opened in December 2004. She has a broad solicitor and barrister practice, having appeared in the BC Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal, and at a Coroner's Inquest. Her solicitor's practice covers real estate, wills and estates, and corporate commercial law, with a particular interest in elder law, including planning for incapacity and adult guardianship. In 2011 she won the Black Press Women in Business Above and Beyond Award.
