About Italia

Italia Gilberti is fluent in English, Italian and French, which has made her well known within the Niagara Region's business community, particularly the hospitality industry. She has extensive experience with complex land use matters and helped secure Zoning By-law Amendment and Official Plan Amendment approvals for many of the high-rise hotels and tourist commercial developments built in Niagara Falls over the past twenty-five years. Her practice centres on corporate and commercial law, real estate, finance, municipal and land use planning, and estate planning, and she also acts for major financial institutions in commercial loan transactions. In 2011 she was named Female Business Person of the Year by CIBPA Niagara. Italia earned her B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science and French from McMaster University in 1987 and completed her law studies entirely in French at L'Université de Moncton, graduating with her LL.B. in 1990 before being called to the bar in 1992.
