Irina Mis is a senior staff lawyer at BCPIAC, which she joined in October 2018, focusing on utility regulation and anti-poverty law. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2015, then articled with Richards Buell Sutton LLP before joining Spraggs & Co., a plaintiff-side personal injury firm, to help clients injured in motor vehicle accidents. During law school she volunteered with the Migrant Workers Centre, formerly the West Coast Domestic Workers' Association, assisting low-income immigrant women with immigration, employment, and criminal law issues, and later served on the organization's board and governance committee. Before becoming a lawyer in Canada, Irina worked as a criminal prosecutor overseas and graduated from Tomsk State University in Russia with a civil law degree, cum laude.
