About Hugh

Hugh McLachlan is a partner at Valin Partners LLP with a general practice in civil litigation, real estate, wills and estates, and family and collaborative family law. He has practised law since March 1972. A native of Ottawa, he attended Glebe High School and earned a B.A. from Carleton University before graduating from the University of Ottawa's law school. He practised for many years with Jeffrey Froud as McLachlan Froud LLP before the two joined Valin Partners LLP in 2019. He has been active in the North Bay community as a past president of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce and past chair of the North Bay Crisis Centre, and currently sits on the board of LIPI (Low Income People Involvement of Nipissing).
