About Houston

Houston J.O. Meding is a lawyer at Beaumont Church LLP who grew up in Trochu, Alberta, working at his family's farm equipment dealership. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Calgary in 2014 and then worked in the Ottawa office of Alberta Senator Doug Black on agricultural, energy and environmental issues before pursuing law. He received a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Birmingham in the UK in 2019 and a Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in 2020, then articled with Colin G. Simmons at Counsel West Law and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2021. He formally joined Beaumont Church LLP in December 2022, and his practice covers agriculture, real estate, surface rights, wills and estates, and corporate taxation. He has been a sessional instructor teaching agriculture law at the University of Calgary.
