François Robillard is the founding partner of Robillard avocats, with over 40 years of experience practising estate law and litigation, the protection of incapacitated adults (including opening protective regimes and homologating mandates), civil and commercial law and litigation, and disciplinary and administrative law. He advises, represents and defends a diverse clientele in courts and in negotiated settlements, and makes a point of trying to resolve disputes through negotiation to avoid the costs and inconvenience of trial where possible. He graduated in law from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1981 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1982, beginning his career as the first articling student in the Barreau du Québec's syndic office that year. He has since served on several Barreau du Québec and Barreau de Montréal committees, including liaison committees with the Cour du Québec, the Cour supérieure and the Cour d'appel du Québec, has been designated a Governor for life of the Fondation du Barreau du Québec since 2011, and has taught civil procedure at the École du Barreau du Québec since 2013. Outside the profession, he served as a director and first vice-president of the Fondation Jean-Marc Paquette from 1994 to 2020, helping establish a mobile mammography unit, and has been its Governor for life since 2023.
