About Erik

Erik Compton is a partner at KMSC Law LLP whose primary practice is in surface rights and expropriation law, advising landowners on lease negotiations, rental reviews, right-of-entry orders and compensation matters before bodies including the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Alberta Utilities Commission and the Land and Property Rights Tribunal. He also practises in business law, residential real estate, and estate planning and administration. Born and raised in Edmonton, Erik earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta in 2009 and a law degree from the University of Kent in England in 2013, was accredited by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in 2015, and was called to the Alberta bar on July 15, 2016. He is a member of the Alberta Expropriation Association and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, and previously chaired the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society board.
