About Amara

Amara Ijomah obtained her law degree in Nigeria in October 2003 and completed the mandatory bar admission course at the Nigerian Law School for Prospective Lawyers. She was admitted to the Nigerian bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in October 2004. She worked as a Legal Officer with a non-governmental organization from 2005 to 2008 and then practiced as a Legal Practitioner for seven years at two law firms in Nigeria. Amara moved to Canada with her family in June 2015 and completed her National Committee on Accreditation exams in July 2017. While completing those exams she worked as a Legal Assistant at Taylor & Company in Grande Prairie, then articled with Dobko & Wheaton and was called to the Alberta Bar on July 13, 2018. She rejoined Taylor & Company as an associate from October 2018 to March 2022 before opening her own practice, A. I. Law, on March 31, 2022. She is a Notary Public, accepts Legal Aid clients, and volunteers with Grande Prairie Legal Guidance providing pro bono services to low-income individuals.
