About Erica
Erica Blythe (Van de Laar) practises corporate and commercial law, real estate, estate planning and administration, and family law at Martin Sheppard Fraser LLP. She was awarded a full tuition scholarship for academic excellence and leadership to complete a Bachelor of Business Management with honours at Western University in 2016, then went on to earn her Juris Doctor there in 2019, taking home the Edward C. Elwood Q.C. Prize for the highest standing in Wills & Trusts and the Legal Leaders for Diversity Trust Fund Scholarship. Called to the Ontario bar in 2020, she first practised family law at a small GTA firm before joining Martin Sheppard Fraser in 2021. She belongs to the Niagara Falls Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association, serves as Director, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Niagara Nursery School, and was named a 2023 Distinguished Alumna by the Niagara Catholic District School Board. Blythe volunteers as a motivational speaker at local schools and speaks regularly on estate planning topics in the community.
