Elliott Goldstein holds a B.A. and J.D. and is in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada. He has practiced law in Ontario since 1988, after previously belonging to the Bar of British Columbia from 1984 to 1987. He has spent years as a general litigator handling a wide variety of matters. His work spans mortgage remedies such as collections and enforcement, corporate and commercial litigation involving partnership and shareholder disputes, civil litigation including employment law, and estate litigation covering will probate, guardianship and powers of attorney. He also advises alarm and security companies on issues involving video surveillance and privacy breaches. In October 2009 he was named a Deputy Judge for the Ontario Small Claims Court, where he sits part-time in the Central East Region, covering courts including Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Barrie and Oshawa. Elliott wrote one of the first Canadian articles on using video recordings as courtroom evidence, back in 1981-82, and has since published more than 140 magazine and journal articles plus two books. He lives in Vaughan and belongs to the York Region Law Association.
