Doug Murray is a partner at Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland LLP, where his practice centers on film, television, new media and music law. He represents producers, financiers, distributors, agents, writers, directors, actors, influencers and musicians, and has deep experience negotiating talent deals, distribution and broadcast agreements, secured lending and equity financing, international co-productions, rights acquisition and tax credit structuring. He began his legal career as a trial lawyer while also working as an actor, and that dual background gives him an insider's view of both sides of entertainment deals. He served as co-counsel in Wiseau Studio v. Harper, one of Canada's leading copyright fair dealing decisions, and sits as a director of the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame. He earned his LLB from the University of Toronto in 1992 after a BA from York University in 1989.
