David Outerbridge is a partner whose litigation and arbitration work spans several sectors, including energy, infrastructure, construction and procurement, as well as insurance, product liability, environmental, and Indigenous law matters, along with class actions and broader commercial disputes. He represents project developers and property owners, along with lenders, contractors, design professionals, regulators, and insurance companies, in construction matters, and acts for schools, public authorities, financial institutions, and pharmaceutical companies in class action litigation. On the insurance side, he advises clients on reinsurance, corporate and commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and policy interpretation matters. David also has extensive public law experience, including criminal and constitutional litigation, and has acted as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court, courts across Ontario and five other provinces, and various administrative tribunals including Ontario's Human Rights Tribunal. He is recognized as a leading e-discovery lawyer, having previously chaired Sedona Canada and the e-Discovery Implementation Committee, a group jointly formed by the Ontario Bar Association together with The Advocates' Society, and he founded the Ontario Class Action Bench-Bar Liaison Committee. David frequently speaks and writes on topics such as construction law, cybersecurity, privacy, legal ethics, and best practices for e-discovery and document retention.
