About David

David Lavkulik was called to the Ontario bar in 1995 after earning a B.A. in economics from the University of Toronto and a law degree from the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He joined Devry Smith Frank LLP in 1999 and now works there as both a partner and a mediator. Over more than 28 years of civil litigation practice he has handled insurance and personal injury claims, medical malpractice, professional negligence, employment disputes, estates litigation, real estate litigation and sexual abuse claims, with roughly three-quarters of his work acting for corporate defendants and insurers and the remainder for injured plaintiffs. He has appeared at every level of court in Ontario, including jury and non-jury trials, the Court of Appeal and the former Financial Services Commission of Ontario. David has mediated more than 2,000 claims and is known for a patient, persistent style, drawing on his experience representing both sides of a dispute to guide parties toward resolution.
