About David

David Durand is the founder and managing partner of DURAND, a Montreal business law firm. David Durand advises clients of all sizes on corporate, intellectual property and technology law, drawing on a background in both law and chemistry. His practice centres on negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts, including software-as-a-service agreements, and on electronic privacy law and security measures, including transactions totaling more than $100 million in SaaS deals with enterprise clients. As a trademark agent, David Durand manages IP portfolios and obtains trademark registrations in Canada and abroad, and conducts due diligence and file-history reviews. He has appeared before the Québec Court of Appeal, the Court of Québec and Québec's administrative tribunals, and worked at IP boutique firms in Toronto and Montreal and at a Montreal pharmaceutical manufacturer before founding DURAND. David Durand holds an LL.L. from the Université de Montréal (2009) and a B.Sc. in chemistry (2001), and is a member of the Québec Bar.
