About David
David Beckett grew up in Dundas, Ontario, following his father, a Hamilton-area lawyer, into the profession. He earned an Honours BA from McMaster University in 1987 and a Master's degree in Political Science there in 1988, then completed his law degree at the University of Windsor in 1994. Beckett articled at a large Toronto law firm before joining Gowland, Boriss Injury Lawyers in 1995 and being called to the bar in 1996. He has since focused his practice on serious personal injury and long-term disability insurance litigation, appearing as lead counsel in Ontario Superior Court trials and before tribunals such as the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal. He also holds the Osgoode Certificate in Motor Vehicle Accident Law and Practice from Osgoode Hall Law School. Beckett is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Peterborough County Law Association.
