About Robert
Robert Becker has practised personal injury, estate litigation, and insurance law since 1984 and has appeared as lead counsel in jury and non-jury trials at all levels of court in Ontario, as well as arguing appeals before the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has represented clients before administrative tribunals including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal. His estate litigation work covers disputes over wills, powers of attorney, estate administration, and capacity, and he holds certificates in Motor Vehicle Accident Law and Estate Litigation from Osgoode Hall Law School's Professional Development program. Becker earned an Honours BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Western Ontario in 1979 and a law degree from the University of Toronto in 1982, where he won the Laskin Prize for the top standing in Constitutional Law. He was called to the bar in 1984 and joined Gowland, Boriss the same year, where he has practised ever since. He belongs to the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Peterborough County Law Association, and the American Association for Justice.
