About Calvin

Calvin Zhang is a partner at Starkman & Zhang Lawyers who handles trial and appellate matters, having been called to the Ontario bar in 2020 and practicing in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. He trained under founding partner Paul H. Starkman starting as a summer student and now runs his own files from intake through judgment, covering commercial litigation, construction disputes, real estate litigation, and landlord-tenant matters. In the past two years he has served as counsel of record on three reported appellate decisions, including a matter before the Ontario Court of Appeal, along with trial wins and contested motions. His recent work includes a four-day construction trial that produced a six-figure judgment, enforcement of a CIETAC arbitral award worth over $1.5 million under the New York Convention, and a summary judgment eviction case. Calvin personally drafts pleadings, conducts cross-examinations, and argues motions and appeals rather than handing the work to associates.
