About Byron
Byron W. Nelson is a trial lawyer and commercial litigator who has spent more than two decades protecting the rights of individuals and small businesses in insurance and commercial litigation. He has represented clients before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Provincial Court, Court of Queen's Bench and Court of Appeal of Alberta, the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of British Columbia, the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Courts of Queen's Bench, and various U.S. jurisdictions. He regularly represents clients in judicial dispute resolutions, mediations, arbitrations and pre-trial conferences, and has experience presenting expert evidence at trial. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary in 1994 and a law degree with honours from the University of Wales, Cardiff, in 1997, where he was the first non-British student to serve as president of the Cardiff Students' Law Society. He was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta bar in September 1998. He has instructed on litigation practice for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and currently chairs the Alberta Fatality Review Board and the Board of Governors of Athabasca University.
