About Barry

Barry Appleton is the managing partner of Appleton & Associates, a Toronto firm that practices international investment arbitration and treaty law. He served as lead counsel in the first NAFTA Chapter 11 arbitration decisions ever rendered and has since represented investors and states in ICSID, UNCITRAL, and CAFTA-DR proceedings. He holds a J.D. from Queen's University and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, and is admitted to practice in Ontario, New York, and the District of Columbia.
