About Andre

Andre Nayvelt is Counsel at Baker & Company, advising business owners and lenders on corporate, real estate, and commercial matters. His corporate work spans business formations, shareholder arrangements, governance, and acquisitions and dispositions, along with commercial contracts and complex corporate reorganizations. A significant part of his practice sits at the intersection of corporate and real estate law, where he advises on the acquisition, disposition, and financing of commercial properties and acts for both borrowers and lenders in secured lending deals. Andre also maintains a practice in expropriation law, representing property owners affected by government takings and advising on compensation and valuation issues. Before entering private practice, he served as in-house counsel to two universities in the Greater Toronto Area and, earlier still, ran a home-services business while completing his undergraduate studies. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2017 after earning his JD from the University of New Brunswick and a BA from York University.
