Allan A. Macdonald holds law degrees from Queen's University (J.D., 1988) and Osgoode Hall Law School (LL.M., 1990), and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1995 after holding an academic post at Queen's Faculty of Law and working for the federal Department of Justice. He built a career in administrative and commercial litigation and spent fifteen years defending lawyers against negligence and breach of fiduciary duty claims before founding his own firm in 2015 to act for clients suing lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, notaries, and realtors. He was the founding chair of the Canadian Bar Association B.C. Branch's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Law section, has taught for the Continuing Legal Education Society of B.C., and has published on land use regulation, privacy law, and constitutional law. He was formerly a director of the B.C. Freedom of Information and Privacy Association and of The Townships Project, a South African micro-finance charity.
